Continuing the Traditions of Colliery Bands in the North East of England.
Backworth Colliery Band is a traditional yet progressive brass band based in Backworth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The band and junior band rehearse twice a week and perform at concerts and contests in the North East and throughout the UK.
The band and its members play many varied styles of music from traditional brass band music, dance and swing band, modern pop, classics and film music, as well as the best of modern original composition for the genre.
The band and junior band are a brass band available for hire - from a full brass band to 12, 10 or 6-piece or a marching band.
